Always remember, never forget

We were newly weds in Oklahoma. The military life was new to me. I didn't know anything about the military until I met N. We were still sleeping on this day. N had been on the night shift at the base. My Mum called, woke us up with news of what was going on. They closed all flying and no one had to report to the base that day. We gathered around a friends TV, watching. Tragic. Later on, we met friends who worked at the Pentagon. Friends of theirs were injured or killed. Hard to believe it's been 10 years.

Today at mass the Gospel was about forgiveness. What a day for that Gospel to fall on. Father said "Forgiveness means you give up the right to revenge." It's time to forgive, but not forget. He discussed how this situation affects children. Children are being punished for this because of their ethnicity. You can't punish all, just because some behave so badly. Forgiveness is the key.

When the man forgave his first servant debt, the servant was happy. When the first servant approached another servant about paying his debt, he demanded the money. Instead of forgiving the debt as his debt was forgiven, he made a big deal and beat the servant. The master came and turned the first servant over to the torturers.

God wants us to forgive others. Think not of yourself, but put someone else first. I have a hard time with this, I struggle daily. Today, my kids ere difficult before church, slightly during and now after. It's hard to not let the enemy sneak in and let frustration take over. It's better to have a positive outlook on life. Keep your cool and patience with your children. Focus on whats good and be thankful.
