Smoke Detector Check

Tonight we had dinner at Zinnia's. The local Fire Department sent home slips and if you filled them out, the fire truck and firemen would come to your house to check your detectors. Zinnia had filled out the form, but it did not make it to school. Disappointed, we continued on with our evening. Some time later, we became thrilled to see the fire truck coming down her road. It stopped at her neighbors house, during the exact hours she had requested on her form that lay in the kitchen. A quick call to the neighbors and the firemen came to see us next. Many giggles and lots of running with excited children, eager to find all the detectors in the house with the three firemen. They got to climb on the truck and wear the firemen's clothing. Everyone was calm when the truck left. They flashed the lights and blew a quick siren. What a night! After, the kids made their way to the basement and played for almost 2 hours uninterrupted. Zinnia and I almost completed a project for Orchid. It was a great Friday night.
